Overview
The GDELT Cloud MCP server exposes non-GDELT Cloud categories as enrichment. Keep GDELT Cloud structured data central. Web research is optional initial orientation, corroboration, or source-page reading for a GDELT-supported task; it is not a standalone search service.Shared Wrapper Parameters
Economic data
Use the nativemacro_tool_list, macro_tool_get, and macro_tool_call tools for FRED/ALFRED series, including CPI, Treasury yields, policy rates, Brent, WTI, Henry Hub gas, and supported exchange rates. Inspect the series’ observation date, frequency, and vintage before comparing it with an event. Use the filings tools for supported reported company financials and the gdelt_cloud tools for company identity and news context.
Live stock quotes, adjusted equity prices, options, and technical indicators are unavailable. Native macro observations are not substitutes for those capabilities.
Prediction Markets
SEARCH_RELEVANT_MARKETS
Use when starting from a plain-language scenario and looking for likely matching contracts.
SEARCH_EVENTS
Use for higher-level event pages that group related contracts.
SEARCH_MARKETS
Use for direct contract search by text or known identifiers.
GET_MARKET
Prediction-market records may include normalized
probability_yes, probability_source, yes_bid, yes_ask, bid_ask_spread, volume, open_interest, liquidity, rules_primary, settlement_sources, series, probability_series, and series_observation_count. Read rules_primary before reporting a probability. Treat these as market-implied scenario context only; they can support a probability-context plot, but they never confirm that an event occurred.
Web Research
Both operations requirepurpose (orientation, corroboration, or source_extraction) and a
nonempty task_context describing the GDELT-supported task. Agents should use at most two searches
and one extraction batch per task, stopping earlier when sufficient. This task budget is guidance;
the depth and request-size limits are enforced before provider billing. Keep provider sources and
extraction failures visible, and separate corroboration from GDELT evidence.

Use Pattern
- Anchor the analysis in GDELT Cloud structured Events, Stories, and Entities.
- Use native macro series for supported FX, rates, commodity, or economic-indicator questions; use filings for reported company financials. Live equity quotes are unavailable.
- Use prediction markets when the question involves odds, policy, elections, escalation, or whether a tradable market exists.
- When useful, use web research for official language, corroboration, specialist sources, and source-article extraction.
