Overview

The supply-chain-risk skill analyzes disruption risk across three supply chain layers: input materials sourced from politically concentrated suppliers, production geographic concentration, and access/regulatory controls (export restrictions, entity lists, circumvention). GDELT Cloud leads traditional media by 12–72h on political/regulatory signals — especially valuable for early warning. Use this skill for: how geopolitical events threaten a supply chain, which countries or companies are exposed, early signals of export restrictions or circumvention, and geographic concentration risk in production.

Workflow Summary

1

Input Material Risk

get_media_events semantic search for export restriction signals from key input suppliers. get_cameoplus_events with domain=ECONOMIC and market_min=0.75 for the supplier country.
2

Export Control Signals

get_cameoplus_events with domain=TECHNOLOGY and market_min=0.7 for the regulating country. CAMEO+ POLITICAL diplomatic signals precede formal announcements by 48–72h.
3

Circumvention Activity

get_media_events semantic search for transshipment hub stories. get_entity for key companies to monitor co-occurrence with unexpected counterparts (signals circumvention networks).
4

Production Concentration

get_conflict_events for the production hub country. get_media_events semantic search for diversification investment announcements (positive signal — new sites elsewhere).
5

Entity Network

get_entity for major buyers/sellers. Unexpected counterpart co-occurrences map new sourcing relationships or circumvention structures.

Output Format

For full assessments, use the Supply Chain Risk Register structure:
Layer 1 — INPUTS
  Primary Input Risk: [ACTIVE/ELEVATED/NORMAL]
Restriction Signal: [export permit / ban / quota]

Layer 2 — PRODUCTION
Geographic Risk: [% concentration, hub country]
  Conflict Risk: [STABLE/ELEVATED/CRISIS]

Layer 3 — ACCESS CONTROLS
  Export Control Trend: [ACCELERATING/STABLE]
  Circumvention: [ACTIVE/MONITORED/LOW]

WATCH LIST: [specific triggers, 30-day horizon]
For quick risk checks, give a direct paragraph: which layer is most stressed, what does GDELT show, and what does it mean? Skip the register unless a full assessment is requested.
